What is the Women’s Initiative?
The Women’s Initiative is a movement of women welcoming refugees into our city with generosity of friendship, time and resources.
We do this by developing and resourcing collaborative endeavors with Friends of Refugees to support the integration of refugees into the Atlanta community and by acting as ambassadors who raise awareness of the beautiful and diverse heritages refugees bring that enrich our city.
We provide opportunities for Engagement, Education and Multiplied Impact with the hope of Mutual Transformation in our city and ourselves.
If you are interested in in learning more about becoming a member of the Women’s Initiative, please email Liz Johnson at Liz@friendsofrefugees.com
Fall 2017 Endeavor
The Women’s Initiative is collaborating with Refugee Family Literacy, a program of Friends of Refugees, to support the launch of their second site, which will provide an educational opportunity for an additional 100 moms and their children.
As a community of women, we are building friendships with a classroom of moms & children, collaborating with on-site projects and sharing resources of skills & finances. We hope to sustain a classroom of 20 mothers (ESOL education) and children (early childhood development) for a year. We invite you to join us!
